Best Ever Bourbon Chicken Recipe
To make this dish, I use chicken breast, but if you want softer cuts, you can use chicken thighs. Then, if you want to dredge a thicker layer of corn flour, dip it in koco eggs, then dredge it in flour and fry.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup of packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 5 or 6 chicken breasts skinless boneless (about 3 pounds)
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch divided
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup of apple juice
- 1/4 cup of bourbon
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 2/3 cup lite soy sauce lower sodium
- 1/3 cup of ketchup
- 4 tbsp canola oil
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- Cut the chicken into 1 inch, put it in a large bowl, stir with 2 tablespoons of salt, corn flour and pepper.
- Then, put 2 tbsp of canola oil into a non-stick skillet, then let it heat until you add sizzling chicken slices, then add half the chicken pieces, then cook for 3 minutes.
- Turn the chicken pieces over, cook for 3 minutes, remove the chicken from the pan.
- Use the remaining oil to cook the second half, then remove the chicken from the pan.
- Add the garlic to the pan, cook for 20 seconds, add the bourbon, water, apple juice, chicken broth, soy sauce, tomato sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, onion powder, ginger powder, and red pepper flake.
- Bring to a boil then add the chicken again, cook for 10-15 minutes until the sauce is reduced.
- Add the remaining corn flour to a small glass with 1 Tbsp of water, then stir.
- Cook until thickened.
