Chicken Shawarma Bowls Recipe
The first day you heard of Chicken Shawarma Bowl? What is Shawarma? That is a way to prepare meat in Middle Eastern culture. The main thing in preparing meat is to grill it, then cut it into thin slices. At first glance, similar to Gyro, but, shawarma has a more varied preparation and type of meat.
Some parts of chicken that you can use are Chicken Thighs, but, if you don't want to use chicken meat, you can use other types of meat, such as lamb or beef. For more details, see the recipe below.
Ingredients
- 5 chicken thighs (boneless skinless)
- 2 lemons juice
- 1/2 cup olive oil
- crushed red pepper flakes
- 1 red onion (chopped)
- 6 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 tspn kosher salt
- 2 tspns ground black pepper
- 2 tspns cumin ground
- 2 tspns paprika
- 1/2 tspn tumeric ground
- pinch ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup hummus / chickpeas
- fresh parsley leaves (for garnish)
- feta cheese crumbles (optional)
- 1 English cucumber (chopped)
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes (halved)
- 1 1/2 cups jasmine rice
- 1/2 tspn dried dil
- 3 tspns fresh lemon juice
- salt and pepper
- 1 cup of plain Greek yogurt
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 English cucumber (small piece) peeled and diced
- First, start by mixing shawarma spices and soaking chicken thighs for the night.
- Cook jasmine rice according to the package instructions, make tzatziki sauce, use a bowl and combine all the ingredients.
- When you want to cook chicken, heat the oven to 425 degrees F, spread the pan, remove the chicken from the marinade, place the chicken thigh and chopped shallots on the pan.
- Bake for 30-45 minutes, then leave the chicken for several minutes.
- To serve, put 1 tablespoon of rice into the bottom of the bowl, you can add it if it's too little.
- Sprinkle with chopped chicken and red abwang, a few tomatoes and cucumbers, and a spoonful of tzatziki sauce and hummus.
- Next, sprinkle with fresh chopped parsley, feta, cheese, red peppers if desired.
